Tradition carried across the ocean, reimagined for this city.
Thai Ya was born from a simple conviction: that the best Thai food doesn't need to shout. Our kitchen honors the regional traditions of Southern Thailand — the slow-toasted curry pastes, the balance of sweet and heat, the respect for seasonal produce — while embracing the energy of New York.
Every dish begins with a paste ground fresh each morning. Our stock is simmered for hours. We source from local farms when the season allows and import specialty ingredients directly when the recipe demands it. The result is food that tastes like it has a story — because it does.
Fresh Paste, Every Day
Every curry paste is hand-ground each morning. No shortcuts, no premade bases — just dried chilies, shallots, lemongrass, and galangal, toasted and pounded to order.
Slow-Simmered Stocks
Our broths are the foundation. Chicken and pork stocks simmer for eight hours, building depth and body that no quick preparation can replicate.
Neighborhood Table
We are part of the East Village. Our regulars include families, late-night workers, and neighbors who've dined with us for years. Come as you are.
Local Sourcing
When the season calls for it, we partner with regional farms for herbs and vegetables. Specialty imports arrive directly from Thailand for the dishes that demand them.
